Two Bodemeister daughters dead-heat in Any Limit Stakes

The young stallion Bodemeister already has sired a Kentucky Derby winner, and he added another accomplishment to his growing résumé Saturday when two of his daughters finished in a dead heat for the victory in the $75,000 Any Limit Stakes at Gulfstream Park.
Brunette Princess and Miss Marcela each earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 65 as they hit the wire together in the Any Limit. They finished the six furlongs in 1:12.49 while three lengths clear of the third-place finisher.
Brunette Princess, out of the unraced Giant’s Causeway mare Giant’s Princess, was bred in Florida by John David Zuidema Jr. She now races for OGMA Investments and is trained by Gustavo Delgado. The filly finished third in the Glitter Woman Stakes in January at Gulfstream.
This was the stakes debut for Miss Marcela, who is trained by Antonio Sano for Paumar Racing Stable and Margoth. A Kentucky-born filly out of the unraced Dixieland Band mare Back Bay Dixie, she was bred by Siena Farms.
Bodemeister, who won the 2012 Arkansas Derby and finished second in both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, stands at WinStar Farm. The son of Empire Maker was represented by 2017 Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming in his first crop. His other standouts include Grade 2 winner American Anthem and Grade 3 winners Once On Whiskey and Yuvetsi.
