Two blaze in King's Bishop drills

Two of the fastest works on Saturday’s monstrous main track work tab came from Florida invaders Fast Anna and C Zee, a couple of fleet 3-year-olds preparing for the Aug. 23 Grade 1 King’s Bishop.
Fast Anna was the first of the pair to go, zipping five furlongs in 58.61 off a 34.15 three-eighths split. C Zee went a half mile in 46.40 after posting a 21.78 opening quarter.
Trainer Kathy Ritvo said despite posting the bullet work, Fast Anna could hardly blow out a match by the time he got back to the barn.
“That’s just him, he always works fast but it never seems to take anything out of him,” said Ritvo.
Although Fast Anna was ridden to victory in his first two starts by Ritvo’s son Michael, she has tabbed John Velazquez for the assignment in the King’s Bishop.
“I’d have all the confidence in the world riding Michael on him in the stakes, he knows and fits this horse so well. But he’s been on a roll of late down at Gulfstream, figures to have a full card full of mounts next Saturday and it worked out perfectly that we were able to get a great rider like John Velazquez for this race.”
In contrast to both Fast Anna and C Zee, fellow Floridian Wildcat Red had a relatively easy maintenance half-mile breeze in 49.71 for the King’s Bishop in his first work since shipping here earlier this week following his third-place finish in the Grade 1 Haskell.
