Two bettors hit Saratoga pick six for $831,237
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - There were two winning tickets sold on Sunday’s pick six at Saratoga, each worth $831,237.
One ticket was purchased through TwinSpires Mountain View (Calif.) hub, and the other through United Tote East Racing and Gaming Services, according to the New York Racing Association.
After Keen Ice upset American Pharoah in Saturday’s Travers Stakes there was a pick six carryover of $557,887 into Sunday’s program. An additional $1,937,940 was wagered into the pool on Sunday.
Many tickets were eliminated after the first leg when the first-time starter Play Unified scored a front-running upset and returned $43.60. After another well-bet firster, Eidmilaad ($7.20), won the second leg, another longshot, Waco ($20.80), took the third leg.
Flashlight ($7.30) and Feathered ($4.30) won the next two legs and eight of the 12 runners in the nightcap were covered.
In the finale, Cornelio Velasquez got Daisy Cutter ($20.20) off the rail in midstretch and the 3-year-old filly was able to outfinish favored Killarney Rose for the win, making a very nice day for two bettors.
