Twirling Owen comfortable winner of Fancy Buckles
Twirling Owen won the third stakes race of her young career Friday night, when the 3-year-old filly defeated older rivals in the $50,000 Fancy Buckles at Charles Town. She won by 2 1/2 lengths over Remy’s Rocket. It was another half-length back in third to Manarola.
The Fancy Buckles was a 4 1/2-furlong race for fillies and mares bred in West Virginia.

Twirling Owen ($4), who was making her first start against older rivals, set fractions of 21.81 seconds for the opening quarter and 45.95 for the half-mile before going on to win in 52.83 over a track that was sloppy and sealed.
J.D. Acosta rode the winner for breeder and owner James F. Miller and trainer Anthony Farrior.
Twirling Owen was winning her third straight race, following an allowance in November at Charles Town and the track’s $50,000 It’s Binn Too Long Stakes on May 22. Her other career stakes win came in the Rachel’s Turn last year, at Charles Town.
Twirling Owen is by Twirling Candy. She has now won 5 of 9 starts for earnings of $138,515.
