Flashy Appeal (Last 3 Beyers: 47-43-40) ◗ She is the only other winner in the field and invades from Prairie Meadows, where she won her last start following two runner-up finishes. Regular ride Shane Laviolette comes with her. A Running Ghost (Beyers: 31-35) ◗ This race has a surprising lack of early speed, so jockey Gerard Melancon might try to exploit his inside post and send his mount to the lead, something he has done here many times on his way to 4,400 career wins. Star (race 10) Key contenders Kid Creole (Last 3 Beyers: 52-27-25) ◗ Appeared to take a major step forward when moved to the grass last time, but the jury is still out on his best surface. He encountered traffic trouble in his debut and caught the winner of the six-figure D.S. “Shine” Young Futurity in his next start, both on dirt. Zackarooney (Last 3 Beyers: 76-39-19) ◗ Put up a huge Beyer upstate last time but still got beat. ◗ It’s a good sign that his rider, Don Simington, is scheduled to make the trip down Interstate 49 to take the return call. Difficult not to like his improving form. Copper Cajun (Beyers: 49-34) ◗ Posted a professional-looking maiden score last time after being mugged on the turn in his debut. ◗ He is another youngster who looks headed in the right direction, and his trainer, William Meaux, wins more than 20 percent of the time with juveniles. Line of Stars (Beyer: 34) ◗ Another Klanfer charge, he has not run as fast as some of his rivals but did manage to win his only start and has room to move forward. ◗ The runner-up from his maiden win has come back and earned a diploma of his own.
