Twentytwentyvision takes next step toward stakes

ARCADIA, Calif. – Twentytwentyvision beat maidens at a mile at Santa Anita on Jan. 30 in a manner that left trainer Richard Mandella eager for the future.
“I was impressed,” Mandella said. “I think he’s pretty nice.”
Twentytwentyvision will have his first start against winners in a first-level optional $40,000 claimer at 1 1/16 miles at Santa Anita on Friday. Mandella is hoping the 4-year-old Twentytwentyvision can duplicate his recent win and move closer to a stakes. The Hall of Fame trainer said he thinks Twentytwentyvision can develop into a graded-stakes runner.
“We’re not setting a limit,” he said. “We’ll keep an open mind.”
Twentytwentyvision is part of a field of nine in the fifth race on a nine-race program that includes a first-level optional $50,000 claimer for California-bred 3-year-old fillies.
