Twenty in One has new connections excited for Thursday feature

You never know until you run, but a gray mare named Twenty in One has given trainer Mike Tomlinson every indication that she will run a big race in her first start for new connections Thursday at Gulfstream Park in south Florida.
“We have really liked her since we claimed her,” said Tomlinson, referring to a $30,000 acquisition from a winning race Nov. 19 at Churchill Downs. “She has trained exceptionally well and has shown a real affinity for the track here at Gulfstream. There was one little spell where she got out of the feed tub, but she got right back to eating the bottom of the tub.”
Rising into the allowance ranks for Diamond F Racing, Twenty in One figures among the core of favorites in the nominal feature at Gulfstream, a $44,000, first-level race at a flat mile. A field of 10 older fillies and mares is entered in the ninth of 10 races on a card that starts at 12:35 p.m. Eastern.
Tomlinson noted that Twenty in One has been posting Beyer Speed Figures that match up against the best of the opposition Thursday.
“Hopefully, she’ll run back to her last two or three numbers,” he said. “She sure acts like she’s ready.”
There’s speed aplenty in the lone allowance of the program, particularly in view of the way Tar and Feather and Syrisong are stretching out. A fast pace likely would help Twenty in One as well as a couple of others with an ability to finish, Queen’s Princess and Sing Lady Sing.
