Twelve Tribes vs. Edison in Coady Stakes

A couple of one-mile turf stakes for 3-year-olds, one for both sexes and one for females, highlight Saturday’s Turf Paradise card. The $35,000 Jeff and Jack Coady drew a field of six, while the $35,000 Chandler for fillies matches nine.
Twelve Tribes, owned by Charles Garvey and trained by Robertino Diodoro, may be the one to beat in the Jeff and Jack Coady. He has flourished on turf since being claimed for $20,000 by Diodoro at Canterbury on Sept. 1. Twelve Tribes rallied strongly from far back to beat restricted claimers at Canterbury on Sept. 13 and finished strongly to post an easy 5 1/4-length win on this course Oct. 20. Geovanni Franco rides.
Twelve Tribes’s main competition figures to come from Edison, a two-time winner on turf this year, once at Gulfstream and once at Canterbury. He won the Grade 3 Canadian Derby at Northlands Park by 11 1/2 lengths Aug. 16 before finishing 12th in the Grade 3 Oklahoma Derby at Remington Park on Sept. 28.
Taelyns Prince, a turf winner in Southern California, could pose a threat. He was fourth to Twelve Tribes here Oct. 20, but that was his first start in a couple of months and his first start here, so he could improve.
The Chandler features a rematch of Bear Facts and Make Money Honey, who ran one-two in an allowance race on this course Oct. 25.
Bear Facts, owned by WindyLea Farm and trained by Valorie Lund, pressed the pace and upset Make Money Honey by a half-length at 11-1. That was her first start in a couple of months.
Make Money Honey, trained by Wendy Uhacz, rallied strongly to post an 18-1 upset over allowance foes on turf at Penn National on Oct. 1. She went into the Oct. 25 race as the 2.40-1 favorite and rallied well for second. She has some speed, so she doesn’t have to come from well back.

TWELVE TRIBES (Last 3 Beyers: 83-63-46)

◗ Both her wins came on grass.
◗ She’s run well on turf here and at Penn National, Parx, and Delaware.
DECATUR PRINCESS (Beyers: 68-56-53)
