Turfway Park trainers' standings remain tight in meet's final week

With three nights remaining at Turfway Park’s winter/spring meet, Cipriano Contreras and Wesley Ward are tied at the top of the trainer standings with 13 wins apiece. Contreras has two entries Thursday at Turfway and one on Saturday, while Ward has a pair of entries for Friday night.

Luan Machado holds an edge in the race for leading jockey, having won 34 races at the meet, which began Jan. 1. Behind him are Rodney Prescott (28), Abel Lezcano (27), Malcolm Franklin (26), and John McKee (25). Machado and Prescott tied for leading rider during Turfway’s holiday meet, which ran Nov. 28 through Dec. 31.

All three remaining cards at Turfway are eight-race programs that begin at 6:15 p.m. Eastern.
