Turfway Park: Put Me In prevails

Put Me In, ridden by Mark Guidry, got the jump on her Churchill Downs neighbor, Golden Marlin, en route to a 1 3/4-length victory as the odds-on favorite Saturday in the $75,000 Weekend Delight Stakes at Turfway Park in Florence, Ky.

Put Me In broke sharply from an outside post to challenge the other early speed horses, then shot to a solo lead with just under a quarter-mile to go in the six-furlong Weekend Delight. She then remained clear under hand riding from Guidry Put Me In, a 4-year-old Take Me Out fill trained by Merrill Scherer, returned $3.40 after finishing in 1:10.46 over a fast track.

Golden Marlin rallied from fifth to finish a clear second as the 2-1 second choice. It was another 3 1/4 lengths back to There Runs Hattie.

Scherer and Foley are stabled next to each other at Churchill.
