Pat Lang Level Playingfield wins the $75,000 Marfa Stakes at Turfway Park on Saturday.
Capitalizing on a blistering pace, Level Playingfield rallied from last to first to win the $75,000 Marfa Stakes at Turfway Park.
Appearing hopelessly out of touch with the field early, Level Playingfield shot through the stretch under jockey John McKee, catching early leaders Korbyn Gold and With Distinction in the closing yards to score by a length. Korbyn Gold, who controlled the pace, held second narrowly over With Distinction.
Level Playingfield ($9.20), winner of the Kentucky Cup Sprint at Turfway in 2004, won for the seventh time in 26 starts. Rallying behind splits of 22.39 and 44.90 seconds, he raced 6 1/2 furlongs on a fast track in 1:17.08.
