My Rochester, a French-bred gelding who did not make his career debut until Nov. 20, won his second consecutive start when he sprung a 13-1 upset in the $35,000 Lost in the Fog Juvenile on Saturday at Turf Paradise.

Ridden by Kate Fales for trainer Robertino Diodoro and owner Randy Howg, My Rochester ($29) was fourth turning for home. He rallied up the rail in deep stretch, passed two horses, and drew clear by 1 3/4 lengths, completing 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:16.23.

In his only previous start, My Rochester, a son of Sky Mesa, scored by a length as the 4-5 favorite in a 5 1/2-furlong maiden race.

J P Rocker, another horse exiting a maiden win, finished second at 6-1. Lotsa Mischief was third at 5-1. Rockin Home, winner of his three previous starts by a combined margin of 11 3/4 lengths, was used up during an early pace battle and faded to fifth as the 6-5 favorite.

Idling, the second longest shot among seven 2-year-old fillies, ran down heavy favorites Lazy Daisy May and Jet Set Kitten in deep stretch to win the $35,000 Arizona Juvenile Fillies.

Beaten 9 1/4 lengths by Lazy Daisy May in last month’s filly division of the Arizona Breeders’ Futurity, Idling ($39.60) turned the tables on that foe when she launched a five-wide move coming into the stretch under Scott Stevens and got up just before the wire to prevail by a half-length. Her time for 6 1/2 furlongs was 1:17 flat.

Lazy Daisy May was a clear-cut second at 8-5, 4 1/4 lengths ahead of previously unbeaten Jet Set Kitten, the 7-5 favorite.

Idling, trained and partially owned by Donald Schnell, came into the race with just 1 win in 7 starts, a five-furlong sprint against maidens in October.
