Turbo Street scores repeat win in Remington Green

Turbo Street won the $100,000 Remington Green for the second year in a row Friday night, sweeping to a 2 1/2-length victory over Lawless West in the season opener at Remington Park in Oklahoma City. It was another head back to Net Gain in third.
The Remington Green was a 1 1/8-mile turf race for 3-year-olds and up. Dot Matrix, the favorite, finished a troubled eighth, while Turbo Street and Lawless West withstood a rider’s claim of foul for alleged stretch interference with Fact Finding. There was no change made to the order of finish.
Turbo Street ($21.60) sat in sixth as Pacific Typhoon was clear through fractions of 24.02 seconds for the opening quarter, 48.23 for the half-mile, and 1:11.37 for six furlongs. Turbo Street moved to the fore and went on to cover the distance on firm turf in 1:47.26.
David Cabrera was aboard for trainer Steve Asmussen.
Turbo Street is a son of Encosta de Lago who races for Clark Brewster. He has now won six of 31 starts and earned $219,050.
Also on the card, jockey Alex Birzer brought in back-to-back longshots in the fifth with Marine Pilot ($77.60) and the sixth with Doc Holiday Rules ($60.20).
Racing resumes Saturday night with a turf-sprint allowance feature that drew eight stakes winners.
