Turallure capped a terrific weekend for jockey Greta Kuntzweiler when he pulled a 10-1 upset in the third running of the $50,000 Cliff Guilliams Memorial on Monday, closing day of the 27-day meet at Ellis Park in Henderson, Ky. Always prominent in the 1 1/16-mile turf race after breaking from the rail, Turallure ($23) got the best of the 6-5 favorite, Inca King, following a prolonged duel, then finished a length clear of Brass Hat, the $2 million earner who was making his first Ellis appearance. Kuntzweiler, who returned to the saddle in June following a 4 1/2-year absence marked by substance abuse problems, won eight races during the final four-day span of the meet, including five on Saturday. Turallure, the lone 3-year-old in the Guilliams field, is owned by the Four D Stable and based at Keeneland with trainer Charlie Lopresti. The gray colt by Wando finished in a swift 1:39.88 over a very firm turf. Brass Hat finished a length before Dr. Smarty Jack in the field of eight, with Inca King another half-length back in fourth.
