Trump My Record won his eighth race of the year Saturday night, when he darted to a half-length victory over Chilitos in the Grade 1, $904,631 Texas Classic Futurity at Lone Star Park.

The 400-yard feature for Quarter Horses closed out the meet. It is the richest race in Texas.

Trump My Record ($3.80) was the 4-5 favorite after he blew away the competition in his Oct. 19 trial for the Texas Classic Futurity, winning off by 2 1/4 lengths while putting up the fastest qualifying time. He led throughout in the finale and covered 400 yards on a fast track in 19.46 seconds. Eddie Sanchez was aboard for Cruz Nava and trainer Jose Sanchez III.

Back in May, Trump My Record won Sam Houston’s richest race, when he captured the Grade 2, $459,700 Sam Houston Futurity. He also was the fastest qualifier for that series. Trump My Record’s other major win came at Louisiana Downs, in the Grade 3, $254,070 Harrah’s Entertainment Futurity in March.

Trump My Record has now won 8 of 10 starts and the first-place check of $402,562 pushed his earnings to $791,153. He is a son of Apollitical Blood and he was bred in Texas.

Chilitos came into the Texas Classic Futurity off a win in the Grade 2, $344,100 Dash For Cash Futurity Oct. 5 at Lone Star.

Flying Cowboy 123 completed a Texas Classic sweep when he captured Saturday night’s Grade 1, $344,571 Texas Classic Derby one year after capturing the Texas Classic Futurity.

Flying Cowboy 123 ($3.60) led throughout on Saturday, winning by a half-length over Fm Cartel Rock. Ricky Ramirez was aboard for trainer J.J. Gonzalez III.

Paragon Farms owns Flying Cowboy 123 and also sponsored Saturday night’s $30,000 Paragon Oaks, with winner Lynnder 16 ($7.80) earning a free breeding to Flying Cowboy 123.

Also on the card, Pa Cha Ching ($5.40) won the $47,612 Texas Classic Juvenile.
