True Timber will train at his own pace for Pegasus World Cup

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Trainer Jack Sisterson reported that Grade 1 Cigar Mile winner True Timber continues to point for the $3 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational on Jan. 23. True Timber drew off to a 5 1/2-length victory in the Cigar Mile, decided over a sloppy track at Aqueduct on Dec. 5.
“He came out of the race great and is a happy horse in good form at the moment,” said Sisterson. “He’s had two easy half-miles down here. I’ll step him up this Saturday, put him in company to go five furlongs, although you won’t see any 59s with him. He’s best when training at his own, leisurely pace.”

Sisterson also said that Vexatious, winner of the Grade 1 Personal Ensign last summer at Saratoga, is scheduled rejoin his stable at Palm Meadows at the end of January.
“We backed off her and, thankfully, the owner is going to let her run one more year,” said Sisterson. “We’ll jog her for 30 days once we get her down here to let her get back into the swing of things, with the goal to have her in peak form to defend her title in the Personal Ensign next summer at Saratoga.”
