True Empress seemingly has found her kingdom since coming to Finger Lakes, with career-best form at the Farmington, N.Y., track after a barn move. She’ll test that form against a salty field, including stablemate and defending winner Gone and Forgotten, in the $50,000 Jack Betta Be Rite Stakes for New York-bred fillies and mares on Monday. True Empress was previously trained by Carlos Martin, for whom the 4-year-old made her final start in May, finishing seventh against open company at Belmont. Since then, she has moved to Finger Lakes-based Michael S. Ferraro. After finishing second in her first outing for the barn, she has won three straight allowance-level events by a combined 8 1/4 lengths. The daughter of stamina-producing Classic Empire is stretching out from six furlongs to 1 1/16 miles and is stepping up to stakes company for the first time since May 2022. She signaled her readiness with a recent local bullet work. Meanwhile, Gone and Forgotten has been based at Finger Lakes throughout her career and has 11 wins from 17 career starts. She has only missed the board once at Finger Lakes, that being a fourth-place finish two years ago, and was off the board once at Aqueduct in her only road trip. The 6-year-old mare won last year’s edition of the Jack Betta Be Rite by 5 1/2 lengths and is coming off a repeat victory in the Arctic Queen. True Empress has an edge in figures in this battle of the stablemates. Her top Beyer Speed Figure this year is a 74, and she ran a 72 last out. Meanwhile, Gone and Forgotten ran a 65 in the Arctic Queen last out, and her highest number this year is a 68. Where Gone and Forgotten has an edge is at this distance. She has three wins and one second in four outings at 1 1/16 miles. :: Bet the races with a $250 First Deposit Match + $10 Free Bet and FREE Formulator PPs! Join DRF Bets. Looking beyond the Ferraro pair, Venti Valentine ships in with a huge amount of back class for Jorge Abreu. The filly was second in the Grade 2 Demoiselle as a juvenile to divisional standout Nest, won the Busher Invitational, and finished second in the Grade 3 Gazelle, earning her a trip to the Kentucky Oaks, in which she was off the board. She has, more recently, been facing her fellow New York-breds, with consistent results, including a pair of stakes wins. The most recent of those came in the Johnstone Mile Handicap on Aug. 9 at Saratoga. Curly Girl was second to Gone and Forgotten in the Arctic Queen last out, while Eros’s Girl also has local form, as she won the Niagara Stakes and was second in the New York Oaks last year. Know It All Audrey was stakes-placed at Aqueduct earlier this year. Allure Fortune, Missing Fortune, Saratoga Kisses, and Shesascoldasice complete the field of 10. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
