SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - The Grade 2, $300,000 Troy Stakes, scheduled for Aug. 2, has been moved to Aug. 3, the New York Racing Association announced Friday. The Troy was one of three graded stakes scheduled for Aug. 2 along with the Grade 1 Fourstardave and Grade 1 Saratoga Derby. The Troy and Derby would be run on the Mellon turf course while the Fourstardave would be run on the inner course. By moving the Troy back a day, this would avoid, in the case of heavy rains, having to wait until race day to potentially move a race to a different day if management felt the turf courses could handle only one race on that day. Last month, during the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival, heavy rains forced NYRA to postpone two Grade 1 stakes from Belmont Stakes Day to the following day while moving the Manhattan to the inner course and shortening the race to 1 1/8 miles. :: Access morning workout reports straight from the tracks and get an edge with DRF Clocker Reports
