Trombetta very high on Hollywood Walk in Floral Park

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Trainer Mike Trombetta is running his best female turf sprinter, Future Is Now, in Sunday’s Grade 2 Franklin Stakes at Keeneland. But Hollywood Walk, the filly he runs in Saturday’s $135,000 Floral Park Stakes for females on turf at Aqueduct, isn’t too bad either.

“Future Is Now has been running against the best horses and doing well with them,” Trombetta said. “They’re not tremendously far off.”

Hollywood Walk, a 5-year-old daughter of Animal Kingdom, has a high-profile younger brother in Mindframe, this year’s Belmont Stakes and Haskell runner-up. Hollywood Walk has found her success sprinting on turf and is coming off a win in a restricted handicap race on Aug. 31 at Colonial Downs. Prior to that, she was second in a pair of stakes and back in May, Hollywood Walk finished third to Future Is Now in the The Very One, beaten just 2 1/2 lengths at Pimlico.

“This is probably a little bit of a tougher test, but she’s been in good form, she deserves a try,” said Trombetta, who added the six furlongs of the Floral Park will “probably help her.”

In her last two workouts, Hollywood Walk has been breezing in company with Future Is Now, including a half-mile in 48.60 seconds over the synthetic surface at the Fair Hill Training Center on Oct. 5.

“They grew up together, now they’re workmates,” Trombetta said.

Trainer Christophe Clement has the uncoupled pair of Loon Cry and Love Appeals in the Floral Park. Loon Cry brings a three-race win streak into the Floral Park. Loon Cry, a New York-bred daughter of More Than Ready, won stakes at Woodbine and, most recently, Laurel. It was in the Sensible Lady at Laurel where Loon Cry beat Love Appeals, ending that one’s two-race win streak.

Secret Money ran a good fourth, beaten a half-length, in the Grade 3 Caress at Saratoga in July before finishing fifth in a tough field in the Grade 2 Ladies Turf Sprint at Kentucky Downs.

Risk Threshold has won two straight six-furlong turf sprints here for Chad Brown and looks like the main speed under Manny Franco.

Cecile, Tequilera, Howaboutdemapples, Mohawk Trail, and Kentucky Girl complete the field.

The Floral Park goes as race 7 on the 11-race card that begins at 12:10 p.m.
