Tripoli out with bone chip

Emily Shields Tripoli worked a half-mile at Del Mar on Monday for trainer John Sadler.
ARCADIA, Calif. – Tripoli, the winner of the Grade 1 Pacific Classic at Del Mar in August, is in the midst of a 90-day rest after undergoing surgery to have a bone chip removed from a knee.
Trainer John Sadler said on Sunday that the injury was detected after Tripoli finished seventh of eight in the Breeders’ Cup Classic at Del Mar on Nov. 6.
“He’ll be back for the summer,” Sadler said.
Tripoli has won 4 of 16 starts and earned $889,960 for Hronis Racing. Aside from the Pacific Classic, Tripoli was second in the Grade 2 San Diego Handicap at Del Mar last July.
