MIAMI - Trip for A.J. left little doubt as to her superiority over the filly and mare handicap division, turf or dirt, when cruising to a popular 3 3/4-length victory over Musical Romance in Saturday’s $55,000 Ms Brookski Stakes at Calder. Trip for A.J., a full sister to eight-time stakes winner Annabil, has now posted three straight one-sided victories and four consecutive wins overall for owner-breeder Peter Fuller and trainer Milt Wolfson. In the Ms. Brookski, decided at 7 1/2 furlongs on the grass, Trip for A.J. was reserved off the extremely fast pace of Aroma de Mujer, readily overtook the leader leaving the quarter pole, opened a commanding advantage, and was not threatened thereafter. She was ridden by Javier Santiago, who has been aboard the daughter of Trippi for each of her last four wins. Musical Romance, who also chased Trip for A.J. home to no avail under allowance conditions over the main track here one month earlier, rallied from just behind the winner but proved no match through the stretch while easily second best. Dancing Rage outfinished Toocleverforwords by a neck to be third in a field of 10 3- and 4-year-old fillies. Trip for A.J., who won the Nancy’s Glitter Stakes over the main track and the Noble Robyn via disqualification on the grass earlier this summer, covered the distance in 1:28.77 over a firm course and paid $3.80.
