Trio with graded stakes experience look to clear first allowance condition

A handful of 3-year-olds with graded stakes experience will see action in three separate overnight races that highlight the Saturday card at Gulfstream Park.
Distinta, Desert Image, and Winter Dawn are up first in a first-level optional $75,000 claiming sprint for 3-year-old fillies that goes as the fifth race. Requite will make his first start since running fourth in the Grade 1 Hopeful last September at Saratoga in the eighth race, a first-level optional $16,000 claiming sprint for 3-year-olds and up. The ninth race, a second-level optional $62,500 claimer over 7 1/2 furlongs on turf, drew Dekabrist and Social Request.
Race 5
KEY CONTENDERS
Distinta (Last 3 Beyers: 78-52-67)
◗ A participant in the Grade 2 Forward Gal and Grade 2 Davona Dale this year at Gulfstream, she ran sixth and seventh in those races before returning to the overnight ranks at that track and finishing second at this level April 18.
◗ Distinta has tactical speed, and in Saturday’s six-furlong race, she might get an ideal tracking trip behind the rail-drawn Silver Fog and perhaps Standard Deal.
◗ Tyler Gaffalione has the mount from post 4 in the six-horse field.
◗ Distinta is a daughter of Summer Bird who is owned by Passion Stables and trained by Gustavo Delgado.
Desert Image (Last 2 Beyers: 61-48)
◗ She won her debut last September at Belmont Park and then was eighth in the track’s Grade 2 Matron in her only other start Oct. 5.
Desert Image will race on the diuretic Lasix for the first time Saturday.
◗ R A Hill Stable owns Desert Image, a daughter of Ready’s Image trained by George Weaver.
◗ Eddie Castro has the mount from post 6.
Winter Dawn (Last 3 Beyers: 55-32-79)
◗ She made her run at graded company last August in the Spinaway at Saratoga, finishing fifth.
◗ Winter Dawn has made one start since and was fifth in the same optional $75,000 claiming sprint that Distinta exits at Gulfstream.
◗ Winter Dawn was a debut winner at Saratoga over Feathered, who last weekend won the Grade 3 Edgewood Stakes at Churchill Downs.
Silver Fog (Last 3 Beyers: 86-32-59)
◗ She put it all together in her third career start last out, rolling by nine lengths in a $60,000 maiden claiming race April 9 at Gulfstream.
◗ McLovin It, who finished second to Silver Fog, returned in her next start to romp by six lengths in a $35,000 maiden-claiming race at Gulfstream.
◗ Silver Fog might be the one to catch Saturday.
