Trio of Grade 3 winners ambush allowance field

The presence of Grade 3 winners Shared Sense, Warrior’s Charge, and Mo Mosa spice up the Friday allowance feature at Oaklawn Park.
The race ushers in Southwest Stakes week, with the Kentucky Derby points qualifier set for Saturday. Oaklawn has two other stakes on the Southwest card – the Martha Washington, which offers points for the Kentucky Oaks, and the Hot Springs.
The feature Friday is a three-other-than allowance for 4-year-olds and up over 1 1/16 miles. It drew a full field of 12.

Shared Sense is a two-time Grade 3 winner by virtue of his victories in the Indiana Derby and Oklahoma Derby in 2020. In more recent times, he was third to eventual Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Knicks Go in the Grade 3 Lukas Classic on Oct. 7 at Churchill Downs. Shared Sense has made one start since, finishing fourth in the $99,000 Tenacious on Dec. 26 at Fair Grounds.
“He’s doing well,” trainer Brad Cox said. “I thought he ran well in his last effort, probably needed the race. He had a little time between the Lukas Classic and that last race. He just flattened out a little bit late on us. Hopefully, he got something out of it. I think this is a good conditioned spot for him.”
Shared Sense owns the field’s co-highest last-race Beyer Speed Figure, a 90. He shares the distinction with multiple stakes winner Fact Finding.
Shared Sense is a son of Street Sense who races for his breeder, Godolphin. He will break from the rail under Joel Rosario.
Cox also trains millionaire Warrior’s Charge, who is moving back into the overnight ranks after running fourth in the $200,000 Tinsel on Dec. 18 at Oaklawn. One start prior, he was beaten a nose in a Keeneland allowance for which he earned a career-best Beyer Speed Figure of 101.
“Hopefully, he can get back in the winner’s circle,” Cox said. “He always tries hard.”
Warrior’s Charge is a Grade 3 winner at Oaklawn, where he won the Razorback Handicap in 2020. He will break from post 11 under regular rider Florent Geroux.
Warrior’s Charge is owned by Ten Strike Racing and Madaket Stables.
Mo Mosa’s most significant victory came last May, when he won the Grade 3 Steve Sexton Mile at Lone Star Park. He won the two-turn race with a career-high Beyer Speed Figure of 99 and will be racing at two turns on Friday for the first time since July.
Ramon Vazquez has the mount from post 2 for trainer Mike Maker. Mo Mosa races for his breeders, Perry and Denise Martin. He is a son of Uncle Mo and will be back on Lasix after racing without the diuretic in his last few starts as he followed stakes protocols in California and Kentucky.
Olliemyboy makes his Oaklawn debut after racing at Aqueduct, and he has had a chance to work over the local strip. In his most recent out, he was fourth in the $125,000 Queens County on Dec. 19 at Aqueduct. Ricardo Santana Jr. has the mount for trainer Rob Atras. Olliemyboy is another who is back on Lasix after racing without the diuretic last time while following stakes protocols in New York.
