Trini Brewnette goes for new trainer in season opener

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – The stakes winner Trini Brewnette makes her first start for trainer Kevin Attard in Friday’s eighth race at Woodbine, a non-winners-of-three sprint for Ontario-sired allowance types and $40,000 claimers.
Trini Brewnette captured the 2015 South Ocean Stakes for Ontario-sired fillies going long in her final 2-year-old race, when she was trained by Danny Vella.
Trini Brewnette went winless in seven starts last year while running several strong races in restricted stakes company. After finishing a close fifth in the Woodbine Oaks, she closed for second behind eventual Canadian Horse of the Year Caren in the $250,000 Bison City. Following a failed turf experiment in the Wonder Where, she wound up third in the Algoma, for graduates of local yearling sales.
Trini Brewnette has been idle since Sept. 25, when she finished seventh behind four next-out winners when meeting older opposition in the Classy ‘n Smart Stakes.
Friday’s nine-race card also has a non-winners-of-two route for $40,000 claimers and Ontario-sired fillies. The Jackpot Hi 5 carryover is $5,589.
