Trigger Warning blazes to win in Tom Ridge Stakes
RACE REPLAY IS NOT AVAILABLETrigger Warning became a stakes winner on Monday, when he held for a neck win over Justaholic in the $100,000 Tom Ridge Stakes at Presque Isle Downs. It was another three lengths back in third to Shangroyal.
The Tom Ridge was for 3-year-olds at six furlongs on the synthetic track at Presque Isle. The Money Dance was scratched.
Trigger Warning ($17.80) stalked the pace as Flash Drive and Shangroyal dueled through fractions of 21.18 seconds for the opening quarter and 44.08 for the half-mile. Trigger Warning moved to the lead in the stretch and covered the distance on a fast surface in 1:08.71. It was the second rapid race in a row for Trigger Warning, who won a 5 1/2-furlong allowance last month at Sunland Park in a blazing 1:01.79.
Irwin Rosendo was aboard Trigger Warning on Monday for trainer Mike Rone.
Trigger Warning earned $60,000 for the victory, which was his fourth from 10 starts. Trigger Warning has now earned $107,778. Trigger Warning is a son of Candy Ride and is from the female family of Grade 1 winner J P’s Gusto. Trigger Warning races for Brinley Enterprises.
