Treys Midnite Moon, at age 6, notches first stakes triumph

Treys Midnite Moon became a stakes winner at the age of 6 on Saturday night when he darted to a half-length victory over even-money favorite Pound for Pound in the $60,000 Evangeline Downs Classic.
It was another head back in third to Mageez.
The Classic was a mile stakes for 4-year-olds and up bred in Louisiana.
Treys Midnite Moon ($14) settled off the pace in fifth as Grand Luwegee set fractions of 24.02 for the opening quarter, 47.94 for the half-mile and 1:12.01 for six furlongs while pushed along by Pound for Pound. Treys Midnite Moon moved to an opening along the rail in the stretch and rallied to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:37.12.
Tim Thornton was aboard the winner for Snake Racing and trainer Corale Richards.
Treys Midnite Moon, who is by Neko Bay, earned $36,000 to improve his career record to 14 wins from 45 starts for earnings of $340,585.
