Tres Dream gets stakes

Tres Dream became a stakes winner Friday night at Remington Park, when she closed from well back and went on to a 5 1/4-length win in the $50,000 Ponca City. The six-furlong race for 3-year-old fillies was the first stakes of the meet that opened Thursday. Gallant Dreamer finished second in the race, 3 1/4 lengths in front of third-place finisher Irish Party.

Tres Dream ($10.60) raced in 10th early, as Gallant Dreamer set fractions of 21.44 seconds for the opening quarter and 43.54 for the half-mile mark. Tres Dream unleashed a serious bid into the hot pace, and went on to cover the distance in 1:08.43.

"Man, she finished strong," said Luis Quinonez, who rode the winner for trainer Steve Asmussen.

Tres Dream, a daughter of Chester House, races for Savorthetime Stable. She has now won 3 of 8 starts and $110,682. Tres Dream is out of the stakes-winning mare Dreamy Maiden.
