Trapeze Stakes: Olivia Twist holds edge in meeting of unbeaten fillies

Olivia Twist will attempt to close out the Remington Park meet on a perfect note Saturday night when she puts her undefeated record on the line in the $100,000 Trapeze.
The one-mile race for 2-year-old fillies is one of six stakes on a card led by the $400,000 Springboard Mile. The races are worth a cumulative $840,000. They include the $70,000 Useeit for Oklahoma-breds that drew Grade 3 Remington Park Oaks winner Hits Pricey Legacy.
Olivia Twist, who has won both of her starts, figures to go favored over a field that includes the 3-for-3 multiple stakes winner Doudoudouwanadance, who is leaving the Oklahoma-bred ranks for the first time. Others of interest include Bonnieview, a half-sister to Grade 3 Iowa Oaks winner Flat Out Speed, and Faith Alone, who enters off back-to-back wins at Remington.
Olivia Twist debuted Oct. 19 at Remington and won a maiden-special over five furlongs, earning a Beyer of 76. She came back Nov. 21 and romped by 15 lengths in an entry-level allowance at a mile, earning a Beyer of 82.
“She seems like she’s going to be a pretty nice filly,” trainer Todd Fincher said. “That was a very, very easy race for her the other day. Everything went perfect, and she showed what she can do. We didn’t learn much – she didn’t have to face any adversity. I’m sure it will be a little bigger test Saturday.”
Olivia Twist, a daughter of Mshawish, was a $230,000 purchase at an Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. 2-year-old in training auction. She is a half-sister to Grade 3 West Virginia Derby winner Skippylongstocking and races for Chris Coleman.

“I think the farther the better for her,” Fincher said. “I think routes are what she wants. She just showed her natural ability going five-eighths. That was the only offered race, and she got the race under her belt. The mile race came up perfect timing.
“She’s got a ton of stamina, a lot of quickness, and should turn out to be a pretty nice filly.”
Jockey Cristian Torres, who on Thursday was leading the standings at both Remington Park and Oaklawn Park, has ridden Olivia Twist in both of her starts. He has the mount again Saturday from post 3. Olivia Twist faces other speed in Faith Alone and Doudoudouwanadance.
“I’ve worked her from behind horses before,” Fincher said of Olivia Twist. “So, either way. But she’s so quick, she puts herself in the race.”
Doudoudouwanadance also is a winner at a mile, having captured the $75,000 Slide Show last out at Remington. Before that race, she won the track’s Oklahoma Classics Lassie and a maiden special weight in her debut Sept. 30.
Doudoudouwanadance is a half-sister to Number One Dude, a multiple stakes winner of nearly $400,000 who runs later on the card in the $100,000 Jeffrey Hawk Memorial. Leandro Goncalves has the mount from post 9 for Terry Westemeir and trainer Kari Craddock.
She’s All In Stakes
Famed, a 3-year-old half-sister to champion Essential Quality, will be looking to win around two turns for the first time in the $100,000 She’s All In.
The race, which is for fillies and mares over a mile and 70 yards, is named for the millionaire racemare who won four runnings of the Oklahoma Classics Night Distaff at Remington.
The She’s All In drew 10, including Cleopatra’s Charge, who won the Grade 3 Sunland Park Oaks in March, and stakes winners Run Slewpy Run, Sunday Flashback, and Dicey.
Famed enters off a win in a second-level allowance at 6 1/2 furlongs on Nov. 13 at Churchill Downs. She rallied from off the pace, and the Beyer Speed Figure of 82 she earned is one of the best last-race numbers in the She’s All In.
“We’re trying her one more time around two turns,” trainer Brad Cox said. “She’s been able to win her races around one turn. Based off pedigree and how she trains and her physical, we always thought she was a two-turn filly. She’s never run bad when we’ve asked her to go two turns. This could open up a whole different group of races.”
Essential Quality won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, Belmont Stakes, and Travers while compiling earnings of $4.7 million. He is by Tapit while Famed is by Uncle Mo.
Godolphin bred and owns Famed, who will break from the rail under Florent Geroux.
Family Time enters off back-to-back allowance wins at Remington Park. She is owned by the Country Bro Stables operation of Danny Caldwell, a perennial leading owner at Remington, and Toby Keith, a country-music artist who lives in Oklahoma. Isaac Castillo has the mount from post 4 for trainer Federico Villafranco.

Jeffrey Hawk Memorial
Caldwell, Villafranco, and Castillo will be teaming together one race later with Rated R Superstar, who is a leading contender in the Jeffrey Hawk Memorial.
The race is for 3-year-olds and up at a mile and 70 yards. It drew a field of nine, including Cox trainee Caddo River.
Rated R Superstar is moving back to dirt. The last time the $1.7 million earner ran on the main track he won the Aug. 19 Governor’s Cup opening weekend at Remington.
Caddo River is making his first start since July, when he set the pace and finished sixth in the Grade 2 Stephen Foster at Churchill Downs. Prior to that start, Caddo River had won three consecutive allowance races, one with a Beyer of 100. Geroux has the mount for breeder and owner Shortleaf Stable.
Hello Hot Rod enters off back-to-back allowance wins for which he earned Beyers in the mid-90s.
That’s Something was the winner of the $175,000 Oklahoma Classics Night Classic in October at Remington.
◗ Hits Pricey Legacy reached a career summit in September, when she won the Remington Park Oaks. She’s back with Oklahoma-breds in the Useeit, which is for 3-year-old fillies at a mile. The three-time stakes winner enters off a fourth-place finish in the Zia Park Oaks. Jose Alvarez has the mount for breeder, owner, and trainer C.R. Trout.
◗ Multiple stakes winner Rowdy Rascal is part of a field of seven for the $70,000 Jim Thorpe, a one-mile race for 3-year-olds bred in Oklahoma.
