Trane Station V a heavy favorite in Golden State Million
Trane Station V was second in two of the leading races for juveniles at Ruidoso Downs over the summer, including the $3 million All American Futurity on Sept. 4.
In California this fall, Trane Station V is making a strong case for being the top 2-year-old. In his debut at Los Alamitos, Trane Station V won a division of the Golden State Million Futurity trials on Oct. 8 to set the fastest qualifying time for Sunday’s $988,450 final at 400 yards.
Trained by Heath Taylor for Sammy Valeriano, Trane Station V will be a heavy favorite in a field of 10 to win for the fourth time in his seventh start.
Trane Station V has yet to win a stakes. All of his wins have been in trial races. He finished in a dead heat for second in the $1 million Rainbow Futurity at 400 yards on July 16 at Ruidoso Downs, posing no threat to easy winner Dark Nme.

In the All American Futurity at 440 yards, Trane Station V closed well through the final 200 yards to finish a half-length behind Cowboys Gun Z. At the time, Trane Station V was trained by Santos Carrizales Jr.
In his debut for Taylor, Trane Station V won on Oct. 8 by 2 3/4 lengths in 19.74 seconds. The trial winners Ab Wow (19.93), Think Again Kev (19.96), and Favorite City (19.97) are the only other qualifiers to run faster than 20 seconds.
Think Again Kev, also trained by Taylor, was third in the Kindergarten Futurity at 300 yards at Los Alamitos in May. On Sunday, Taylor also starts Hot Prodigy, who was fifth in the Ed Burke Million Futurity at Los Alamitos in June, the first of three major futurities held at the track annually.
The Golden State Million Futurity is followed by the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity on Dec. 10.
Following the Burke, Hot Prodigy was second in a division of the All American Futurity trials at Ruidoso Downs in August, but failed to qualify. In the Golden State trials, Hot Prodigy was second to Famous Cartel Jessy.
The Golden State Million Futurity will be the stakes debut for the well-regarded Goodtyme, who was purchased for $460,000 as a yearling at Ruidoso in the summer of 2022.
Trained by Chris O’Dell, Goodtyme finished in a dead heat for first with Relentless Coronado in a division of the Golden State trials.
