Trane Station V breaks through in Golden State Million
CYPRESS, Calif. — Trane Station V was second-best in two of the leading Quarter Horse races in the nation over the summer at Ruidoso Downs – the $1 million Rainbow Futurity and $3 million All American Futurity.
A move to California this fall led to the colt’s first major stakes win in Sunday’s $988,450 Golden State Million Futurity at Los Alamitos.
Ridden by Francisco Calderon, Trane Station V ($2.60) led throughout the 400-yard race, pulling clear of nine rivals to win by a convincing 1 3/4 lengths over 21-1 Unrelentless. Ab Wow (11-1) finished third.

Racing into a fierce headwind, Trane Station V was timed in 19.86 seconds and earned $403,809 for owner Sammy Valeriano and trainer Heath Taylor. A winner of 4 of 7 starts, Trane Station V has earned $1,012,209.
The Golden State Million was Trane Station V’s first stakes win. He was second in a dead-heat in the Rainbow Futurity at 400 yards on July 16, posing no threat to the filly Dark Nme, who won by a remarkable 3 1/2 lengths.
In the All American Futurity at 440 yards on Sept. 4, Trane Station V was second by a half-length to Cowboys Guns Z, and was a neck in front of third-place finisher Dark Nme.
Valeriano and Taylor said they plan to start Trane Station V in time trials for the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity at 400 yards on Nov. 19. The final will be run on Dec. 10.
The Taylor-trained Political Rivalry is among numerous prominent runners expected in the Two Million Futurity trials. Political Rivalry has won two futurities at Los Alamitos this year – the Ed Burke Million in June and the Pacific Coast Quarter Horse Racing Association Breeders on Oct. 1.
Political Rivalry was held out of the Golden State Million trials on Oct. 8 because of its proximity to the PCQHRA final.
