Trainer Pat Devereux Sr. dead at 77
Pat B. Devereux Sr., the only trainer in Keeneland history to win the same stakes with the same horse three years in a row, died early Sunday at his Lexington, Ky., home following a brief illness. He was 77. Devereux trained Royal Harmony to win the Fayette Handicap in 1969-70-71. Among his survivors is his son, Pat Jr., who currently works as a top assistant to trainer Mark Shuman.
