Trainer Nevada Litfin suspended for conduct detrimental to racing
Trainer Nevada Litfin has been handed a summary suspension by the Canterbury Park board of stewards for conduct detrimental to racing, according to a ruling posted by the Minnesota Racing Commission on Wednesday.
Litfin was cited for an Aug. 16 incident. During the suspension of his license, he is denied access to Minnesota tracks, pending a hearing.
The ruling reads that Litfin “was observed by commission security engaging in acts detrimental to the integrity of racing.”
A representative of the Minnesota Racing Commission said he could not comment on the case when asked about the nature of the conduct. There was no current violation posted at the Horseracing Integrity and Welfare Unit website as of noon Wednesday, and a representative could not confirm or deny such a case when asked about a potential violation on Tuesday.
Litfin did not immediately return a phone message or text message seeking comment. He won the first race of his career on June 8, 2000 at Canterbury and has compiled a record of 194 wins from 2,120 starters for stable earnings of $3.4 million. His biggest career win to date came in the 2010 Minnesota Derby with Tsar Tops Dancer.
