Trainer Coty Davidson was killed early Friday in central Florida in a single-vehicle wreck in which his passenger, jockey Megan Fadlovich, was reported to be seriously injured. According to The Gainesville Sun, Davidson was driving southbound on Interstate 75 just north of Ocala when the crash occurred shortly after midnight. Davidson, 33, died after falling 40 feet from an overpass when apparently attempting to check on Fadlovich, 30, who had been ejected from the vehicle in the crash and had fallen over the same overpass. The paper quoted officials as saying the couple had just started dating and that neither was wearing seatbelts. Both had been most recently active in racing in early December at Mountaineer Park. Davidson sent out 18 winners, and was based in Ohio and West Virginia. He won his first race in 2011. Fadlovich had ridden in Ohio and West Virginia in recent years, with her win total standing at 506. She began her career in 2010, riding in Arizona, Iowa, and Massachusetts. A personal friend said Friday that she had been informed the jockey was gravely injured in the accident.
