Trainer Carrizales sweeps first three spots in Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Futurity
Pyc Avenue and San Lorenzo Ivory finished in a dead heat for first in Saturday’s $973,665 Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Futurity, part of a sweep of the first three positions in the lucrative race for trainer Santos Carrizales.
Carrizales had four of the nine runners in the 330-yard race and finished third with Eye On the Card and seventh with Jess Angel Blood.
Pyc Avenue ($8.20) and San Lorenzo Ivory ($3) were timed in 16.66 seconds, and finished a half-length in front of 6-1 Eye On the Card.
The Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Futurity is the richest Quarter Horse race of the year so far.
Pyc Avenue, who was ridden by Bryan Candanosa, and San Lorenzo Ivory, ridden by Juan Pulido, were trial race winners on April 2. Pyc Avenue is unbeaten in three starts, including a maiden race in March. San Lorenzo Ivory has won 2 of 3 starts.
In the preceding race, Dreamsville ($13) led throughout the $270,535 Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Derby to win by a length over 2-1 favorite Just a Kool Boy.
Dreamsville, ridden by Jesus Salazar for trainer Dee Keener, ran 400 yards in 19.46 seconds for his fourth win in 11 starts. Last May, Dreamsville was fourth in the Heritage Place Futurity at Remington Park and was later second or third in time trials for the Rainbow, All American, Golden State Million and Los Alamitos Two Million futurities without qualifying for the finals.
