Tracks act on herpes finding

In response to a confirmed positive test for equine herpesvirus and the quarantine of three barns at Calder Race Course, some tracks are restricting the movement of Florida shippers.

Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Ark., announced Wednesday morning that it will not be receiving horses from Calder into its stable area until further notice. Oaklawn does not open its meet until Jan. 15, but its stable area has been open since November.

Penn National Race Course announced Wednesday that it will not accept entries from or provide stabling to any horse that has run or been stabled on a farm or at a training center in the state of Florida since Nov. 15.
