Tournament focus shifts to Laurel Park this weekend

Laurel Park is sponsoring a free contest Saturday that comprises races from the Maryland oval. The top three finishers will receive DRF Tournaments site credit, which players can use to compete and win their way in to upcoming events at Monmouth, Keeneland or even the Pegasus World Cup Betting Championship at Gulfstream Park. The first-place finisher will get $300, second will receive $150 and third will get $50.

Also Saturday, there will be a special qualifier for the Fall Challenge at Keeneland that will be limited to 10 entries. Players put up $350 and winners will receive their $3,000 berths for the contest, which is Sunday, Oct. 14. Keeneland also offers a lower buy-in event, with players putting up $400, on the Saturday before, making that an enticing weekend for players to visit Keeneland, which is always a good idea for horseplayers anyway.

Saturday will also see a round-one event for the Pegasus contest, a two-day live-bank event at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 25-26. All the prize money will be added – players must put up $12,000 in bankroll to compete. It’s a high-roller game for sure, but it’s also a fantastic opportunity for players. Saturday’s game costs $220, with one in five receiving a $960 entry to the direct qualifier on Saturday, Aug. 25. From that online tournament, one in 15 will win their $12,000 bankrolls and $500 in travel.

On Sunday on DRFT, Monmouth’s Super Qualifier takes center stage. This will be the final opportunity for players to win into Monmouth’s Aug. 25 contest. Players put up $120, with one in 10 winning $500 buy-ins plus an additional $500 in travel. The Monmouth Super Qualifier will award seven seats to the National Horseplayers’ Championship and two seats to the Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge.
