Tough Tiz's Sis wins Hollywood Oaks
INGLEWOOD, Calif. - There was no stopping Tough Tizs Sis in Sundays $156,400 Hollywood Breeders Cup Oaks at Hollywood Park.
Jockey Aaron Gryder let the filly take a position toward the front of a five-horse field in the opening furlong, and Tough Tizs Sis went on to capture the Grade 2 race by 3 1/2 lengths.
Shes a big striding filly, and I didnt want to take that from her, Gryder said.
Tough Tizs Sis ($6.40) dueled with Follow the Clues for the first six furlongs before pulling clear, finishing 1 1/16 miles in 1:43.30. Silver Swallow, the 9-10 favorite, finished second, 6 1-4 lengths clear of High Cholesterol.
Follow the Clues and Ashleys Kitten completed the order of finish in a field that lost Hucking Hot, Seaside Affair, and Spenditallbaby to scratches earlier in the day.
Tough Tizs Sis won the WinStar Oaks at Sunland Park in March but was a troubled seventh in the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks last month. Tough Tizs Sis, a Tiznow filly out of Leaseholder, has won 4 of 8 starts and $253,872 for Karl Watson and Paul Weitman and trainer Bob Baffert.
