That represented a near 8 percent increase over the 2021 figure. NYRA’s business took a downturn this fall when the Belmont Park fall meet was held at Aqueduct. That meet generated $238,442,142 in handle, down 16.2 percent from the $284,658,894 handled at the 2021 Belmont fall meet. This year’s Belmont fall meet was held at Aqueduct to allow for construction of a vehicular and pedestrian tunnel from the backside to the infield. While Belmont Park will be open for a 40-day meet this spring, the fall meet will once again take place at Aqueduct as NYRA does renovations to its two turf courses and main track. Meanwhile, handle for the final two months (Nov. 4-Dec. 31) of racing at Aqueduct was $217,379,882, down 6.5 percent compared with a similar time frame (Nov.11-Dec. 31) a year ago. That covered 29 dates in 2022, compared to 25 in 2021. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering? Check out DRF's Handicapping 101 and Wagering 101 pages.
