Topango takes Senorita

Bossier City, La - Heavy favorite Topango outkicked previously undefeated Merry Me in Spring down the straight to win Saturday's $50,000 Senorita Stakes. Dancing Meg finished third followed by early pacesetter Kurlicue.

Ridden by E. J. Perrodin, Topango ran her turf record to five wins from six starts and made amends for a narrow defeat in the Lone Star Oaks in her last start. The sophomore daughter of Distant View is trained by John Locke and owned by HSB Racing. She covered the mile and a sixteenth in 1:42.66 over a firm Franks Turf Course and finished one length the best. The winner's share of $30,000 increased her career earnings to $164,000.
