A bulky field of 11 horses is set to run in a first-level allowance race for Florida-breds that headlines Friday’s nine-race program at Gulfstream Park. However, the mile and 70-yard race for fillies and mares on Tapeta appears to boil down to a matchup between Tiz Enough and Grandma’s Pudding. The race goes as race 8 with a scheduled post time of 4:03 p.m. Eastern. Crystal Coast and Hardly Social are the only horses taking advantage of the $20,000 claiming option. Tiz Enough, trained by Vernon Allinson, is coming off a sharp win in a $35,000 claimer for nonwinners of two on Oct. 8. The 76 Beyer Speed Figure she received for her 2 1/4-length victory is a career best and tops anything her 10 rivals have ever posted. She went into the race off a runner-up finish at this level and distance Sept. 2. A late bloomer, the 6-year-old daughter of He’s Had Enough was making her 29th start and winning for the first time since she took down a maiden special weight at Gulfstream in her 10th race in August 2020. However, she has improved since moving to the all-weather surface at Gulfstream, where she has compiled a solid 1-2-1 record in her last four starts. Tiz Enough showed more tactical speed in her last outing and, considering her upward trend, the 6-year-old may not have yet reached her full potential. She will break from the rail with Edwin Gonzalez retaining the mount. :: Bet the races with a $200 First Deposit Match and FREE Formulator PPs! Join DRF Bets. The Ralph Nicks-trained Grandma’s Pudding will break from post 2 with Edgard Zayas aboard. Zayas won his 2,000th race aboard Miss You Ella in the $70,000 Cellars Shiraz last Friday and came back Saturday to win six races, including the $70,000 Showing Up with Night Jumper. Grandma’s Pudding is coming off a runner-up finish behind Miss You Ella in a first-level allowance race for 3-year-old fillies that carried a $75,000 claiming option on Sept. 24. A daughter of First Dude, the Jacks or Better Farm homebred was under stout restraint while stalking Katie’s a Lady from along the rail. She moved outside of Katie’s a Lady on the stretch turn, took over the lead coming out of the turn, and was game in defeat in a strong effort behind a next-out stakes winner. She should get a similar trip and, with just seven starts, her best races could be in front of her. The Ronald Spatz-trained I Believe in Magic finished third in Tiz Enough’s race Sept. 2 and fifth in the same race Grandma’s Pudding exits. Her runner-up finish in a similar race three back on July 8 would put her in the mix, and she is eligible to improve while wearing blinkers for the first time. Extravagant Rosie, trained by Kent Sweezey, could make a big impact if she runs as well as she did winning a $25,000 claimer for nonwinners of three on turf Aug. 23 at Colonial Downs. However, the 5-year-old daughter of Treasure Breach did not fire in her only try on a synthetic surface, which came in her July 23 start at Gulfstream in a $16,000 starter/optional claiming race. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
