Tony Dutrow duo head Comely field

David Grening|Apr 07, 2010

Tony Dutrow will take two shots at Saturday's Grade 3, $150,000 Comely Stakes, sending out the uncoupled entry of She'll Be Doggone and Volare Cantare in the one-mile race for 3-year-old fillies.

She'll Be Doggone is 2 for 2, having won a maiden race when trained by John Parisella and a first-level allowance race after being transferred by owner Morris Bailey to Dutrow. Both of those races were at six furlongs. Volare Cantare won a two-turn maiden race over the inner track by 12 lengths on Jan. 8 before finishing third in the OBS Championships Stakes over a synthetic surface on Feb. 15.

A field of eight was entered for the Comely with the only two stakes winners being Ruthless winner Indian Burn and Busher winner Roman Chestnut. Roman Chestnut will be making her first start since upsetting the Busher at 45-1 and first start for new owner Peter Redekop and new trainer David Duggan.

Speightful Affair, Touching Beauty, and Anchorage are also entered.

Maiden winners return in Friday feature

White Chiffon and Bahama Bound, both of whom won a $50,000 maiden claiming race in their last start two months ago, headline Friday's $42,000 featured starter allowance race for 3-year-old fillies.

White Chiffon, trained by Steve Asmussen, withstood some mid-race pressure to draw clear to a seven-length victory in a six-furlong race at Fair Grounds on Feb. 13. She could play out as the dominant speed from the rail.

Bahama Bound, trained by Barclay Tagg, won for maiden $50,000 at Gulfstream on Feb. 15.

Idealhouse has run well in two starts on dirt, and, like White Chiffon, tries one mile for the first time.
