Toni Tools shortens up for Franklin Square

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – After finishing a respectable second in the Maddie May Stakes going two turns on Jan. 29, Toni Tools will turn back to a sprint when she heads a field of 10 entered for Sunday’s $100,000 Franklin Square Stakes at six furlongs.
Toni Tools, a daughter of Roaring Fever, won three straight sprints from Oct. 6 through Dec. 18 for trainer Todd Pletcher and owners Vinnie Viola and the MeB Stables of Maryellen Bonomo. Pletcher stretched her out in the Maddie May, and Toni Tools rallied from fifth to finish second, beaten a length by repeat winner Dublin Girl.
Pletcher will also send out Overnegotiate, another filly who is turning back in distance. She finished a well-beaten fourth in the East View Stakes on Dec. 30. Prior to that, she won a maiden race and finished second in the Key Cents Stakes, both going six furlongs.
Also entered in the Franklin Square were Wilburnmoney, Bertranda, Bluegrass Flag, Passporttovictory, Out of Trouble, Luna Rising, Maple Mo, and Treatherlikestar.
