Tom's d'Etat begins gearing up for Breeders' Cup Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Tom’s d’Etat was sent through his first breeze since his third-place finish in the Aug. 1 Whitney when going a solo half-mile in 50.80 seconds before dawn Monday at Churchill Downs. Miguel Mena was up.
“All good, very good,” trainer Al Stall Jr. said. “A long journey starts with the first step. The time between the Whitney and getting him back on a regular breeze schedule was strictly by design. I’m extremely happy with how he’s been doing.”
Stall said Tom’s d’Etat will have five or six more works toward his next start, the Breeders’ Cup Classic at Keeneland. The 7-year-old horse is one of the leading contenders for that Nov. 7 race after having won five of his last seven starts and earning triple-digit Beyer Speed Figures in his last nine races.

Stall won the BC Classic 10 years ago when Blame held off the great Zenyatta in an epic 2010 running at Churchill.
Rosario suspended
Jockey Joel Rosario is back in New York, where he will return to action Saturday at Belmont Park after being suspended three days (Wednesday through Friday) by the Kentucky Downs stewards. The penalty stems from the disqualification of Blame Debbie from first to third in the final race of the Sept. 9 card.
