Tomlin uses her speed to win Camilla Urso Stakes

Tomlin, under replacement rider David Lopez, led throughout Saturday’s $77,250 Camilla Urso Stakes for fillies and mares at Golden Gate Fields, ending a six-race losing streak in stakes since November 2018.
Lopez had Tomlin ($31.60) on the lead through a fast opening quarter-mile in 20.72 seconds, repelled an early threat from 13-1 Red Livy and won by 1 1/4 lengths over 7-2 Fantasy Heat, who closed from fourth.
Mucho Amor (25-1) finished third in the field of 10 after drawing into the race from the also-eligible list. Mucho Amor was ridden by Kyle Frey, and was listed as his preferred mount over Tomlin, resulting in the late rider change.
