TOC names two new directors

Horse owners Merv Griffin and Tom Mankiewicz have been appointed to the board of directors of the Thoroughbred Owners of California. They replace Michael Cooper and Don Rego, both of whom resigned.

Cooper declined to comment on the reason for his resignation. Rego was not available for comment.

Griffin, well known for his involvement in entertainment, owns a stable of racehorses. He was a member of the Hollywood Park board of directors in the 1980's.

Mankiewicz, who owned Victory Encounter, who won the Grade 1 Vanity Handicap in 2004 at Hollywood Park, has produced, written, and directed several television programs and films.
