Tiztastic is no stranger to winning rich races, with more than $900,000 in earnings just six starts into his career. It’s a bankroll that could grow substantially later this month, as he is under serious consideration for the Grade 2, $1.25 million Rebel Stakes going 1 1/16 miles at Oaklawn Park on Feb. 22. Tiztastic won the $1 million Kentucky Downs Juvenile Mile last September, one start after winning a $250,000 allowance at the turf track. He moved to dirt in October and was second by five lengths in the Grade 3 Street Sense at Churchill Downs. Tiztastic then ran third by four lengths in the track’s Grade 2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes in November and third by 2 1/2 lengths in the Grade 3, $1 million Southwest last out at Oaklawn. “We’re going the right way,” said trainer Steve Asmussen. “We’re not exactly where we want to be yet, but we’re going the right way. He’s a big, beautiful horse. Obviously, the distance is going to help. I’m extremely pleased with how he’s come out of the race and he’s a horse we’ll definitely consider running back in the Rebel.” Tiztastic earned a career-high Beyer Speed Figure of 89 in the Southwest. His win in the Kentucky Downs Juvenile Mile came over Coal Battle, who returned to win the Springboard Mile at Remington Park and the Smarty Jones at Oaklawn. Tiztastic is a son of Tiz the Law who races for Winchell Thoroughbreds, Mrs. John Magnier, Michael Tabor, and Derrick Smith. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
