Tizso Majestic earns two titles at Retired Racehorse Project's Thoroughbred Makeover
Former racemare and broodmare Tizso Majestic claimed two titles at the Retired Racehorse Project’s Thoroughbred Makeover as the event’s former broodmare division completed its second season.
The RRP unveiled the former broodmare division in 2023, and Claiborne Farm and Lane’s End Farm co-sponsored the division this year. Recently retired broodmares may compete alongside the traditional retiring racehorse division any of the 10 offered disciplines; those mares are pinned and recognized separately, and compete for a separate pot of $10,000 in prize money. To be eligible, mares must have had at least one lifetime start or published work; must have produced a foal or bred in the 2022 season or afterward; and may not have competed or shown prior to Dec. 1, 2023, when training for the 2024 Thoroughbred Makeover officially opened across all divisions.
“There is a need for some of these mares that don't necessarily fit into the broodmare category ... whether they retire for physical reasons, or quality reasons, or whatever reasons, there needs to be a third option for them,” Claiborne’s Mary Stewart Ormsby, speaking during last Saturday’s Thoroughbred Makeover finale competitions, said.

Tizso Majestic, an 11-year-old Majestic Warrior mare, raced three times with no placings before moving on to her broodmare career. She produced four foals – the last of those in 2022 – with two winners from as many starters.
Now back in under-saddle training with Annika Greaney-Stanger, a professional from North Dakota, Tizso Majestic won the competitive trail and ranch work titles for retiring broodmares at the Thoroughbred Makeover. Greaney-Stanger also rode Egoli to win the barrel racing title for mares.
The other broodmare division discipline winners were Tiz a Mystery and Maxine Preston in dressage; Kitten On Call and Lily Thomas in eventing; Turndown Da Volume and Maisey Pautz in the freestyle; and Excuse My French and Rebecca Jones in the show hunters.
