Tiz the Law works five furlongs; ships to Saratoga on Monday

ELMONT, N.Y. – Tiz the Law, the Belmont Stakes winner, worked five furlongs in 1:01.18 on Wednesday morning over Belmont Park’s training track as he prepares for a start in the $1 million Runhappy Travers Stakes on Aug. 8 at Saratoga.
With jockey Manny Franco aboard, Tiz the Law came on the track following the renovation break at 8:45 a.m. He was accompanied by trainer Barclay Tagg on the stable pony until the six-furlong pole before he turned loose Tiz the Law.
Tiz the Law went his opening quarter in 25.03 seconds, three furlongs in 36.66, and, with a slight nudge from Franco in midstretch, he got his final quarter in 24.52. Tiz the Law galloped out six furlongs in 1:14.64 and seven furlongs in 1:28.48.
“Everything looked good,” Tagg said. “He wasn’t blowing when he came back and he went a mile at a good speed. It takes nothing out of him, you just hope it puts enough into him.”

Tiz the Law has now worked twice since he won the Belmont, at 1 1/8 miles, by 3 3/4 lengths on June 20.
Tagg said Tiz the Law is scheduled to ship to Saratoga on Monday and will likely have his first workout there July 17 or 18.
Meanwhile, Belmont Stakes third-place finisher Max Player returned to the work tab Sunday when he breezed a half-mile in 49.30 over the Belmont training track. He galloped out five furlongs in 1:01.28, six furlongs in 1:14.00, and seven furlongs in 1:29.11.
Trainer Linda Rice said Max Player is scheduled to work twice more at Belmont before she ships him to Saratoga for his final breeze for the Travers.
