Tiz Breathtaking delivers as favorite in Shady Well Stakes

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – The aptly named Tiz Breathtaking gave trainer Mike Doyle his fifth win in the $125,000 Shady Well Stakes in impressive fashion at Woodbine on Saturday.
Tiz Breathtaking ($3.90) bided her time near the rear of the seven-horse field as Sailing By set honest fractions in the 5 1/2-furlong sprint for Ontario-bred juvenile fillies.
Tiz Breathtaking was fanned very wide while commencing her rally exiting the turn, as Sav made her way to the lead. Tiz Breathtaking caught Sav with about a sixteenth left before going on to score by 1 3/4 lengths in 1:05. Appella rallied for third, and Sailing By faded to fourth.
Eurico Da Silva rode the Tiznow filly, Tiz Breathtaking, who earned $75,000 in her first stakes victory for Windhaven Farms.
“She’s very professional,” said Da Silva. “She wants to go a little bit farther, but I didn’t want to take her [closing] style away. She has such a beautiful brain. She’s a very calm filly. I chose to just wait for the stretch, and when I asked her, she kicked from there.”
