Tiz Believing adds touch of class to derby

Tiz Believing, who earlier this year faced future Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird, looks like the one to beat Sunday in the $20,000 Colorado Derby at Arapahoe Park. He is one of eight 3-year-olds in the 1 1/16-mile race, which also drew Homerun King and Major Billy, second and third in the $33,000 Colorado Thoroughbred Breeders Association Derby on July 4.

Tiz Believing met Mine That Bird at Sunland Park in the $100,000 Borderland Derby on Feb. 28. He finished fourth behind Scorewithcater, who won by a neck from Mine That Bird. Tiz Believing has raced once since then, and finished second as the favorite in an allowance route at SunRay Park on June 19. A.J. Martinez has the mount for trainer Ray Ashford Jr.
